Diagnosed an unconditional OpenRouter key gate that prevented Ollama, LM Studio, and other local embedding providers from running without a dummy cloud credential, then proposed provider-aware validation.
The maintainer rebased the fix onto current main and retained Spencer and Claude as co-authors.
